100 Days Until my Mid/Post COVID-19 Wedding
How are you? Long time, no chat - I know! Well, I hope you are safe and well because all that's about to change. I'm going to do my best to document the upcoming 100 days leading up to WED-Day!
A wicked brew of emotions and anxiety is an understatement. However, I'm blessed to be in a position to say we're healthy, and as of now, the wedding is ON as planned. It's been a rollercoaster here in Texas, but my venue states all is looking good on their end. So with that being said, I wanted to start this long-overdue series of documenting the things I'm doing for the wedding. I'll share some DIY projects & tutorials, some planning advice, and experiences (specifically for my brides that have to plan amid a crisis), and much much more.
Let's start with a recap. Ironically enough, July 15th, 2020 is not only 100 days until we get married but it is also the anniversary of when I met Samson, six whole years ago! I never knew back then that while I was introducing myself to a new co-worker he would someday be my husband. God surely has a sense of humor, if only you all knew the denial I was in about 'just being friends'. Some of you do. That's a story for another time. Today's topic will be about where I started with wedding planning as soon as the engagement happened! If you're newly engaged, this is for you! If you're not, share how you selected your WED-Day in the comments below!
DUH, DUN, DUN...
I don't think this is a shocker, but you may want to figure out when your wedding is going to be before anything else. You have to know what and when you're planning. So for me, the sappy, hopeless romantic type - everything has a meaning to me. So our date selection was rather easy. But if it isn't for you, here are some questions to ask yourself:
When did you guys meet?
What are you all's dating anniversary?
What's your favorite season?
Outside or Inside wedding? Weather restrictions?
Heck, what's you all's favorite number if you have one?
So how we came to October 23rd, 2020.
Fall/Autumn is my favorite season (He didn't care)
Our favorite number AND our birth dates are the 23rd (The greatest - Jordan, duh! lol)
Our dating anniversary is August 23rd (random, but cute)
BOOM - You're Done with Step 1!
Now that the wedding is taken care of. I like to plan backward. You have more dates to select, all the pre-wedding events plus all the tasks you need to be done before the wedding and those events. In my case, the dates I selected for things like my bridal shower and bachelorette trip didn't mean SQUAT thanks to COVID-19 ruining it. But I'll still review why I selected them and I'm going to go into detail on the tasks over the next few entries.
It feels good to be back - Talk soon!
