What do we at Alor mean by that? The goal behind the brand is to empower people. We live in a time where there is such a heavy influence on who and what you have to be. I disagree. I believe that you have to know and love yourself enough to find out who you are, and then decide how to present yourself to the world. It is your life, and life is too short to be concerned with the opinions of others.

There are no rules to beauty, it's all a gimmick. The assumption that because I am a makeup artist, I believe everyone must wear makeup, or makeup is what it takes to be beautiful could not be farther from the truth. As I'm sure most makeup artists will tell you, we enjoy makeup for the creativity and simply because we find beauty within that creativity. We enhance our assets, yes, but we do not try to manipulate others with malicious intent. Frankly, I cannot see how fulfilling one persons desire to have a 'beat face' could be considered manipulation or malicious to anyone else. If you have not noticed there are endless ways to 'beat' a face. A natural beat and glow is my all time fav!
I think the thing a lot of people seem to forget is that there is good and bad to everything. The biggest reason for that is we all measure good and bad differently. I have people close to me that hate makeup and social media, two very big components in my life. That does not change their view of me and it does not change my view of them. I see the beauty in makeup and know it could be a tool to make others feel better about themselves if they are battling any image issues, which we all do at some point. Social media can be used for evil or for good. It has helped so many others, like me, in the pursuit of getting a message out to the world. All we can hope for is that there is more good in the people of the world than bad.
The mission of empowering people began from people asking me how I put my outfits together, how I applied my makeup certain ways. My reply is always, "I just threw this together", and that is the truth. I could buy an entire outfit for under or about 20-30$ at any time, I just always had to mind a budget growing up and even now while 'adulting'. It showed me that doing so is not as easy of a task for others. It showed me I am creative, an innovator. Therefore, being who I am and what I believe in, it was a no-brainer to create a way to help my fellow sisters! Even if it is just for ideas or encouragement, Alor is a tool I want to be a positive way to build others.
