How To: Apply & Wear False Lashes

Hey Guys!

Before we get started, I'm so excited that the time is finally here! For the first collection I wanted to make the newcomers to eye lash extensions very comfortable. Therefore, majority of the styles I chose will make a difference in volume and dimension of your eye look without being overpowering. However, I of course had to have a couple that brought the dramatic effect. Personally, I do not have any noticeable eye lashes of my own so I enjoy the light pairs that simply give me the appearance of having my own natural lashes.

I do want to also point out that everyone's eyes are different. These suggestions are what have worked for me and majority of my clients. Please remember, everyone has their own unique allergens. Therefore, the mink lashes, the glue, the tools I am suggesting may cause irritation if you have extremely sensitive skin. Irritation from never experiencing lashes, or irritation from the product is a call you would have to make.

Now let's get started! There are a ton of tips I have for you but let's start with the basics.

1. What you'll need

2. How to Apply

3. How to Remove

4. How to wear multiple times

5. Why Lashes?

What you'll need:

1. Your Alor Lashes - I brought an array of styles for this first round that focus on a natural slay rather than a full Glam/Drag style; which I love but I know not everyone is there just yet. The point of Alor is to find what works for you, and define your beauty yourself. I will say to my fellow Divas, don't worry, Mama got chu! Dramatic lashes are next on my list, they just take a little while longer to test because I have so many requirements for them. Comfort, flexibility, long lasting, etc.

2. Lash Glue - I use DUO. There are quite a few lash glues out there, and honestly I have been wanting to explore the options. But when life is hectic, stick to what you know. And that is exactly what I have done. DUO is 5.99 and can be found in any drugstore, which makes it ultra convenient, in addition to being 'Old Reliable' in my book. DUO comes in clear or in black. I personally use the clear option in the blue packaging just in case I am having a no eye liner day. It has a smell and can take a couple minutes to dry, but again, you can only ask for so much for that price and convenience. I will make it a priority to try some of the brands other artists use eventually but for now, DUO and I are just fine.

3. Mascara - Mascara is important EVEN if you do not have natural lashes like me. The reason is it helps blend with the falsies, and most importantly, makes sure any fall out of eye shadow is taken off before lash application.

4. Tweezers (possibly, at your own risk) - If you have long nails like me, you will need a tool so you are not blocking your sight line of the mirror with your hand. There are lash applicators out there, but for me I just use tweezers I already have. The only thing with this tip is, obviously, you must be extra careful and only do this if you are comfortable handling something sharp near your eye. It helps manipulate the lash and get really close to that lash line.

5. Eye Makeup remover / Makeup wipes (For Removal) - when you are ready to remove the lashes after a long day, but sure to get either a q tip and makeup remover, or a makeup wipe covering the tip of your finger, and gently rub against your lash line. This will loosen the glue making removal painless as possible. Please remember everyone has their own allergens, so make sure you use a remover that does not affect yours. Do not submerge the lashes, getting them completely wet. You can definitely wipe them swiftly, to remove any makeup, but the getting them completely wet will indeed change the appearance slightly for your next wear. Remove old glue from the lash line by gently pulling the strip away from the left behind glue residue. Remember the more gentle you are, the more you can re-use these lashes.

How to Apply:

Below is the full YouTube tutorial where I walk you through the application. However, this blog post goes much more in detail, so please read the full post.

- Store them in original case or in a place they will not be flattened

Why Lashes?

It has always been my opinion that if I could not do anything else, eye brows and eye lashes would be my top two makeup pieces. (excluding my lip gloss, I cannot live with dry lips...pet peeve) Eye brows frame your face, they are a must. Lashes do the same for me. Personally I have small almond shape eyes with no natural length to my lashes framing my eyes. It is very easy to look over my eyes to something more prominent on my face, like my high cheek bones. Eye lashes make my small eye POP. They are essential to ALL of my makeup looks, even my fave the 'natural glow slay'. Therefore it is essential to know that false eye lashes do not have to be the type that are super long, or super dense... They could just give you a way to emphasize your eye shape that could very well get looked over otherwise.

Do not be intimidated at all. At the end of the day this IS just makeup and we will all be beautiful without it! But if you enjoy emphasizing your assets or even creating assets you do not have naturally like I do, please do it, because life is too short to allow the world to control your decisions. Especially when it comes to self-image. Do whatever it is that makes you happy. For me, I've always noticed if you look good, you often feel good, and everyone deserves to feel good.
